One of the most important issues that arises about living in a condo is security. What you must know is that you need not compromise your safety if you are living in a condo. And here is how you can see to it:

  1. Always Follow Building Rules
Your building already has its own set of rules which are aimed to provide security for all tenants. A doorperson’s duty would be to monitor the comings and goings in the building. All you need is to follow the rules.

  2. Trading Etiquette for Security
Be diligent in obeying rules which applies to guests, receiving packages and such. Don’t hold the door open for someone, especially if you don’t know them.

  3. Know Your Neighbors
You’ll feel utmost comfort living in your condo if you take the time to get to know your neighbors. Naturally, neighbors are there to watch out for you.

  4. Install Additional Locks
Install a deadbolt and chain lock for an extra measure of security. Your doorknob alone is easy to pick or open with force.

  5. Secure Sliding Doors and Windows
Slide doors and windows don’t have sufficient locks on its own. You can put an inside bar or pole lock on the track to keep it closed. Another way is to install a metal pin to lock the door to the doorframe.

  6. Put Your Valuables in A Safe
If you have expensive jewelry, documents or cash in your condo, you might want to consider putting them in a safe. It’s a lot safer than leaving them in plain sight or unsecured location, especially when a burglar gets into your unit.

  7. Block the View from The Outside
As an added privacy as well as security, use blinds and curtains to block the view from the outside. It deters prying eyes and unwanted attention.

  8. Install Security Devices
What better way to secure your condo than to install an alarm system or a security camera. This way you can monitor your condo even when you are away.

  9. Always Be Alert
Security systems, devices, etc. could not keep you safe if you are not careful and mindful of your security. Be vigilant. Lock all your doors and windows.

  10. Invest in Insurance
When talking about good security and protection, insurance can give you that and more.
