Pre-existing conditions are terrible. They raise your insurance premium and might even render you uninsurable altogether. Fortunately, many of them are related to lifestyle and can be treated beforehand so you can remain insurable. Here are some preexisting conditions and how they can be mitigated.

Hypertension

Hypertension means that your blood pressure is over 140/100. It is a very bad state of affairs because high blood pressure is closely related to a lot of other diseases including stroke and heart attacks. As a result, someone with high blood pressure is generally viewed as hard to insure.

Fortunately, hypertension can be managed and eventually mitigated. Proper diet and exercise can lower blood pressure. The risk factors for hypertension are there, and one of the worse is being overweight. So, try losing some weight and watch the hypertension melt away.

Obesity

Obesity is one of the worst lifestyle diseases. The sheer number of diseases that come with being overweight is terrible. So, this is one of the worst issues that come with the lifestyle we have today.

What makes Obesity tragic is that it is entirely avoidable. As much as people insist they are helpless against the onslaught of too many calories and sedentary lifestyle we must fight against the hopelessness.

Moderating food intake and trying as much as possible to increase exercise is probably the simplest way to get going towards ending the plague of obesity. Getting your friends to join in on the fun is a great way of relieving your obesity with friends.

Alcoholism and Other Substance Abuse Issues

Unfortunately, a lot of people are alcoholic and possibly having other substance abuse issues. These create problems with insuring a person. After all alcohol and other substance issues lead to a wide range of other problems. It means that someone with these issues is going to have a hard time to get insurance.

The good news is that Alcoholism and Drug use can be dealt with. There are many programs out there to help a person who is suffering from these problems. Since alcoholism is quite understood already there is plenty of technology out there that can help.

Smoking

Smoking is another bane of insurance. A smoker is at risk of a lot of diseases and makes it very unattractive to insurers. The simplest way to help yourself from this is to put down the cigarettes.
