4 Dangerous Zones In Your Home That You Should Child Proof

Having a baby in your home means that certain things need to change around your home. Childproofing is essential to ensure the safety of your kids.

It's easy to take a few more days to check your home and ensure each room is free of unexpected hazards that may arise as your baby starts to stand, crawl, walk, or even climb.

Places To Childproof In Your Home

Childproofing is essential to ensure that your kids are safe in their home and there are no accidents that could lead to you going to the emergency room. Here are a few places that need to be properly childproofed.

  1. The Kitchen
Most people have an open-concept kitchen in their homes. This means that even if you're in the living room, your mobile kid will be able to go to the cupboards or pantry, and a standard doorway gate will not be an option.

Modern childproof cabinet locks are an excellent investment to help ensure your child's safety.

  2. The Medicine Cabinet
Accidentally ingesting prescription or over-the-counter pharmaceuticals found in the family medicine cabinet is one of the most prevalent causes of unintentional poisoning in young children.

According to the CDC, approximately 300 children aged 0 to 19 are treated in an emergency department in the United States every day due to being poisoned.

Investing in a good medicine cabinet childproofing system would help ensure your child doesn't have access to them.

  3. The Bathroom and Laundry Room.
Everyday household goods such as laundry pods, hand sanitizer, cleaning wipes, and beautiful soaps may appeal to young toddlers yet are harmful if consumed. This area needs to be properly childproofed.

  4. The Stairs
The stairs can be unsafe for both adults and children, which makes it a very important place to childproof.

Putting child safety gates at the top and bottom of the steps can prevent young children from falling. Baby walkers with wheels are also not recommended by parenting safety experts. Instead, use stationary play stations.

Conclusion

Your child can't be protected from everything, but you can at least help reduce the risks of casualties that could occur. Properly childproofing your home would help reduce that risk.
